Nut Caps
Our Plastic Nut Caps or simply Plastic Nut Covers as they are also known, are a hugely popular product for the general protection of a nut or bolt and are available in either Locking or Domed types. Each cap is manufactured from a high quality form of LDPE Plastic or Polypropylene (depending on choice of locking or domed) and comes in a range of RAL or primary colour-ways to provide a clean finish to your application. Typically our 'Locking Nut Covers' are used with playground equipment, where access to the nut or bolt must be restricted to meet health and safety requirements.
Nut Protection Caps are recommended to improve the security of your installation, restricting the ability for tampering as well as improving the aesthetic over an exposed nut. Our range is available in a number of industry standard BSP and metric sizes from M4 up to M24 however we are also available to manufacture upon request.
Please note that we offer both locking and standard domed version of these plastic nut covers

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer Nut Caps in specific RAL colours?
Yes, for both Secure and Domed Nut Caps we have the ability to offer RAL colours to meet requirements. In most cases however a minimum order will apply, due to the manufacturing process involved with these products.
What does AF or Across The Flats mean?
Across the flats is a measurement used to match up nut sizes, being the measurement from one flat side, to the other. This measurement should be paired with the metric thread size of the nut/bolt to ensure a perfect fitment.
How do the 'Secure Nut Caps' work?
These work like the name suggests, by 'securing' the nut. This product comes in two parts (the base and the cap), with the base acting as an enclosing washer before the locking cap is pushed inside. Once the locking cap has been installed, access can no longer be gained to the nut head.
What are cap nuts used for?
Cap nuts, also known as nut caps, are designed to cover and protect exposed bolt or screw threads. Their main uses include:
• Preventing injury from sharp or protruding threads
• Protecting fasteners from corrosion, dust, and moisture
• Creating a neat, finished appearance for bolts and nuts on visible assemblies
• Improving safety in public, industrial, or commercial environments
Can nut caps be reused?
Yes, our nut caps are made from durable materials such as LDPE Plastic, making them suitable for repeated use. Their push-fit design ensures:
• Easy installation and removal by hand
• Reusability across different projects or maintenance cycles
• Consistent protection and appearance over time
What is the difference between a cap nut and a dome nut?
• Cap nuts generally refer to any nut or cover designed to enclose the end of a bolt or screw, providing protection and a finished look.
• Dome nuts specifically have a rounded, dome-shaped top, offering a decorative finish and additional safety by fully covering exposed threads.
• Both types serve similar protective purposes, but dome nuts are often chosen where appearance and enhanced safety are priorities.
What are thread protection nut caps?
Thread protection nut caps are designed to cover and shield the entire threads of bolts, screws, and nuts from:
• Damage during handling, transport, or storage
• Contamination from dirt, moisture, and debris
• Corrosion or weathering, particularly in outdoor environments
These caps help maintain the integrity of threaded fasteners and reduce maintenance needs.
What are secure nut caps?
Secure nut caps are specially designed to provide a tight, tamper-resistant fit over nuts and bolts. Features include:
• Extra grip or locking design to prevent accidental removal
• Added protection against vandalism or tampering in public installations
• Reliable coverage for fasteners in safety-critical or high-traffic areas
What are common applications for nut caps?
Nut caps are used in a variety of industries and environments, including:
• Playground and public park equipment for safety and appearance
• Automotive and machinery assembly for thread protection
• Furniture and shopfitting for a neat finish
• Construction, railings, and fencing to prevent injuries and corrosion
